Parmesan is a fun, cheesy new MSN Messenger client for RISC OS. It does lots of stuff.
The latest release is v1.30 (25-Feb-2008), available from the download page.
Alert, alert!

Another month, another Parmesan... today's must-have new feature is Alerts, a configurable set of actions triggered by certain events. Now you can have a little window pop up to tell you when a friend signs in, and a sound effect when you receive a message. If you really want to (and you have Jonathan Duddington's eSpeak), you can have Parmesan speak the messages you receive to you! Hopefully Parmesan should also work with MoreDesk's flashing window feature. Also, there was a problem with the forums for a while which made it difficult to sign up. This has now been fixed, so if you couldn't post to the forums before, have another go. Thanks!

My intended monthly releases seem to have turned into bi-monthly ones, but today's new release adds a new configuration window which - amongst other things - lets you choose the font and colour that your messages appear in. Parmesan also now understands the font information sent with messages you receive, showing conversations in their full colour glory. Also new are auto-idle options following the screensaver and media personal messages - Parmesan can show your friends what music you're listening to in AMPlayer as your personal message! Plus contact cards, an easier way to see your friends' display pictures full size (and their email address too). Fab.

New in Parmesan today: file transfer! The new version released today now fully supports file transfer, along with a couple of other improvements too.

Parmesan gets its first public release today! Some features aren't finished yet, and the whole thing needs a good polish, but it's still pretty good. I'll post bulletins here whenever there's something new to see, but in the meantime enjoy it and let me know how you get on.
